PRINCESS ELIZABETH ATTENDS TRADITIONAL MAUNDY CELEBRATIONS
Rec. 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Apl. 14. Carrying the traditional nosegay of sweet herbs to guard against infection. Princess Elizabeth took his Majesty’s place at the Westminster Abbey Maundy Thursday ceremonies which, from ancient times, have been marked by the Sovereign giving gift; to the poor. The Princess watched a yeoman of the guard v in Tudor Uniform walk through the crowded nave bearing on his' head a great silver dish from which the Lord High Almoner, the Bishop of Lichfield, distributed pence in silver—as many pence as the King is years old—to 54 men and 54 women.
