Sir,—l am sure Mr O. L. Ferens’s reply to “Ajax ” In to-day's paper is very misleading, as war pensioners are debarred from receiving the family benefit as I know from my own personal experience. This appears to me very unjust, penalising the children of war widows and ex-servicemen. We are only allowed one Government benefit, thereby creating a means test.—l am, etc., One of Them. [Mr O. L. Ferens, secretary of the Dunedin RSA, .stated that the Government legislation provided the family allowance, but in the case of a person receiving a war disability pension the wife received a mother’s allowance of £1 10s.
