ESPIONAGE CHARGES

HEARING IN UNITED STATES COURT RUSSIAN CLAIMS IMMUNITY Rec. 8.25 p.m. NEW YORK, Apl. 14. Valentin Gubitchev, a Russian engineer formerly attached to United Nations headquarters, said in the Federal Court to-day that he did not want to be associated with the trial of Judith Coplon, a former Justice Department employee. Gubitchev and Coplon are charged jointly with conspiring to commit espionage. Gubitchev was in court to-day for the hearing to set the trial date He again claimed diplomatic immunity. The judge set the date of the joint trial for May 2. Coplon is due to go on trial in Washington on April 25 on an additional indictment wnich does not involve Gubitchev.
