TRIBUNAL APPOINTED

HEARING OF STATE EMPLOYEES’

CLAIMS PA WELLINGTON, Apl. 15. The Acting Prime Minister, Mr Nash, announced to-night that in accord with the Government Service Tribunal Act passed last session, a tribunal had been appointed consisting of Judge Stillwell (chairman). Mr Eugene Casey and Mr R. Eddy, M.L.C., to determine remuneration and conditions’ of service of Government employees in accord with the Act. “A recent Order-in-Council.” said Mr Nash, “ prescribed the Public Service Association arid New Zealand Workers’ Union (in so far as its members were employees of the Government) as service organisations as provided by the Act and the tribunal will hear representations and prescribe scales of wages and salaries and conditions Mr Eddy has been appointed on the nomination of the New Zealand Workers' Union but it has been agreed that he will make way for a nominee of the Public Service Association when the nomination of the association has been received by the Government, and the case of the association is set down for hearing by the tribunal.”
