SWIMMING ATTRACTION
The Otago Swimming Centre will stage its greatest attraction for years when it holds carnivals at the Municipal Baths on Friday and Saturday nights at which the famous Olympic champion diver, Dr Sammy Lee, and John McCormack, the United States junior tower and springboard champion, will appear in special exhibitions. An added attraction will be the appearance of Dunedin's Olympic backstroke swimmer, Ngaire Lane, and the former national breaststroke champion, Hazel Forsyth, who have just completed a highly successful educational tour of the North Island. Jean Stewart, looked upon as the logical successor to Ngaire Lane, is to make a special attempt to establish a New Zealand women's backstroke record for 400 metres, and among the novelty items will be a burlesque life-saving act by the University troupe.
