EUROPEAN PROSPERITY
BASIS IN EXPORTS TO AMERICA Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, Mar. 28. Europe could become reasonably prosperous by 1952 if production continued to increase there, said Mr Paul Hoffman. European programme admim istrator, in an address in Pasadena. California. He added that European prosperity hinged upon increased American imports from Europe, and colonial development by European nations. If Europe was to continue buying 5,000,000,000 dollars worth of American products a year as it did under the Marshall Plan, it would have to sell the United States at least 2 500,000,000 dollars worth of its own goods. The balance would come from invisible income like tourist trade and the export of American capital.
