KING ARTHUR CASE
OBJECTION DISMISSED PA WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. A full inquiry has been held into the objection lodged by Mr L. W. Cox, owner of Sandy’s Epic, regarding the placings in the President's Handicap on the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting in which'first place was awarded to King Arthur. The following decision has been announced:— •* 1. That the horse King Arthur, during the time it was in the siables owned by Mr Hosking, had been trained by J. K. Hughes, a professional trainer employed by Mr Hosking. The objection js, therefore, dismissed, but in view of the exceptional circumstances, Mr Cox’s deposit is refunded. Had all the information nowbefore the stipendiary stewards been available prior to the running of the Air Force Handicap on the first day, it would not have been necessary to prevent King Arthur from starting in that race. “ 2. That Mr Hosking’s explanation that he made a genuine mistake in entering his name instead of that of J. K. Hughes as the trainer of King Arthur is accepted. At the same time we view his action as most careless. He is, therefore, fined £10."
