LICENSEE FINED
SALES OF LIQUOR AFTER HOURS MOSGIEL COURT SITTING Senior Sergeant Hay appeared for the police to support the charge against John Ross, licensee of the Mosgiel Hotel, who was fined £ls, with costs (10s), by Mr A. E. Dobbie, S.M., in the Mosgiel Court yesterday for exposing liquor for sale after hours. Mr A. G. Neill appeared for Ross. For being unlawfully on licensed premises after trading hours, William Rohy Cunningham, William Chandler, Edmond Vaughan and James Hamilton were each fined £l, with costs. For consuming liquor at a dance hall, A. Neale was fined 10s. with costs. W Shand, R. McDonald, R. Page and R. Lloyd, for riding unlighted bicycles, were fined 10s, with costs (10s), £1 10s, with costs (11s), 10s, with costs (12s), and 10s, with costs (12s), respectively. The Transport Department brought charges against Isabel Maloney and Alexander Malcolmson for allowing cattle to wander on the highway. Maloney was fined 12s, with costs (14s 6d) and witnesses’ expenses (£2 3s 6d), and Malcolmson 6s, with costs (16s 6d) and witnesses’ expenses (£2 5s 6d). Traffic Offences For exceeding the speed limit. R. Thompson was fined £3, with costs (10s). For failing to keep to the left, he was fined £5, with costs (10s). Charles Shand was fined £4, with costs (10s), for driving without due care and attention. Leslie Harris, for exceeding the speed limit, was fined £2, with costs (10s). A. M. McLeod was fined £l, with costs (10s). for having no warrant of fitness. Richard Henham, for driving without due care and attention, was fined £3, with costs (10s). For exceeding the speed limit, O. Drennan was fined £2 10s, with costs (10s). For overtaking without having a clear view, A. L. Murray was fined £3, with costs (10s). L. de Gamham was fined 15s, with costs (10s), for cycling on the footpath. F. Whytock was fined £l, with costs (10s), for driving without a licence. A. Whytock was fined £l, with costs (10s). for having no warrant of fitness.
