Bren Gun Should be Prominent Again in Gardiner Memorial

SPORTIN&

The Oamaru Jockey Club’s autumn meeting will be concluded tomorrow and the fields engaged should provide interesting and probably exciting racing, as the readjustment of the weights, based on first day’s form, should bring the horses closer together. The principal race, the Gardiner Memorial Handicap, has drawn the smallest field of the day, but it includes the winner and third horse in the Cup, Balkis and Bren Gun respectively, and they will no doubt be given substantial support on the totalisator. Thornbridge and Bobby Dazzler are, however, two who are likely to show improvement on Wednesday’s form. As was the case on the first day, the two trotting events have filled exceptionally well, and altogether the card is a good one. Horses likely to be in favour during the day are:— 11.30: Novice Stakes, No. I.—Open Range, Air Sonnet, Indiana. 12.10: Waikaura Trot.—Metropolis, Aerogard, Contempt. 12.55: Novice Stakes, No. 2.—S\Veet Lorraine, Boon Companion, Silver Chase. 1.40: High-weight Handicap.— Atreus, Bay Fort, Bridgehead. 2.25: Gardiner Memorial Handicap.— Bren Gun, Thornbridge, Balkis. 3.10: Waitaki Hack Handicap. —Bowling Green, Salmon King, Dinnyhazer. 3.55: Landon Trot.— Contempt, Metropolis. Aerogard. 4.45: Farewell Hack Handicap.— Attractive Air, Vitamin, Exchange.
