HOSPITAL EXPENDITURE
TENTATIVE ESTIMATES FOR COMING YEAR The capital tentative estimates for the. Otago Hospital Board for the coming financial year were submitted by the Budgeting Committee and approved at last evening’s meeting of the board. The estimates, with the exclusion of certain items specified prior to their adoption, totalled £163,872 18s lid. The items listed were, in the main, repairs and renovations to the board's various premises and the provision or replacement of machinery and equipment. The major items in the tentative estimates were sums of £14,000 each for renovations to Talboys Home and the remodelling of the sewing room at the Dunedin Hospital. Provision was made for the expenditure of £12,000 in alterations to the administration block at Wakari Hospital, £IO,OOO was the sum estimated for the remodelling of the main kitchen at the Dunedin Hospital, and £7750 was allotted for alterations to the isolation block and £6OOO for remodelling the operating theatre. Alterations to Victoria pavilion at the Dunedin Hospital were estimated at £9OOO. The remodelling of the nurses’ home was estimated at £6438. For alterations at El Nido maternity hospital, the sum of £3589 was estimated, and £4OOO was provided for the out-buildings at Tuapeka Hospital. Alterations to the ante-natal clinic at Queen Mary Maternity Hospital were listed at £4250. Under the headings of “ urgent alterations ” and “ staff quarters ” at Pleasant Valley Sanatorium were estimates for £SOOO and £2300 respectively.
