MEETING OF MANUFACTURERS IN DUNEDIN

Clothing manufacturers in Dunedin are disturbed by the announcement by the Price Tribunal that members of the trade, in New Zealand must absorb the whole cost of the wage increases recently granted to about 20,000 workers in the clothing industry. The cost to the manufacturers has been estimated at £250,000. A meeting of members of the clothing manufacturing trade is to be held in Dunedin this afternoon to discuss the pronouncement. Those interviewed by the Daily Times yesterday regarded it as legislation directed only at one class of the community which had received no compensation by way of reduced taxation.
