INNINGS VICTORY
TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL OTAGO BOYS BEATEN Special to the Daily Times TIMARU, Mar. 23. After consolidating their position by disposing of the opposition for 59, compared with their 306, the Timaru Boys' High School first eleven gained an innings victory against Otago Boys' High School in their annual fixture at the Rectory ground to-day. In their second innings Otago were dismissed for 173, giving Timaru their win by a margin of 74 runs. Otago made a better showing in their second turn at the wickets and would undoubtedly have amassed a bigger total had it not been for Timaru’s accurate fielding, which at times was brilliant. Dozens of singles and couples were saved by snappy work close in, and there were three remarkably fine catches. Judging by comments made by the visitors it is obvious that the soft and rather lifeless wicket found them at a disadvantage. Their bowlers did not get the lift they hoped for and several batsmen were caught unawares by deliveries which unexpectedly stayed low.
