INFORMAL VOTING
“RATHER A SENSATION” PA TAUMARUNUI, Mar. 10. The number of informal votes returned on the licensing and trust control issues in the King Country was described as “rather a sensation,” by the returning officer for Waimarino, Mr C. H. Butcher. He said this morning that they amounted to hundreds. Both issues were contained on the one voting form. Mr Butcher stated that it was pointed out to him during the day that some voters were getting confused. All he could do at that late hour was to ask the deputy returning officers at the booths to warn the voters. In one of the four Taumarunui booths 93 people voted informally on the licensing question and 23 on the issue of trust control.
