INCENTIVE PAYMENTS
AUSTRALIAN CONSIDERATION FOUR MAIN POINTS Rec. 9.30 p.m. CANBERRA, Feb. 21. The question of wage incentive payments in industry will be considered by the Federal Labour Advisory Committee at the request of the Commonwealth Government, according to a statement bv the Prime Minister, Mr Chifley. The Advisory Committee consists of representatives of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Federal Executive of the Labour Party and the Parliamentary Labour Party Mr Chifley said the following points should be considered: — Minimum award rates must be guaranteed under any plan. Provision must be made for shift premiums, penalty and overtime rates and all special award payments. Legitimate claims for wage increases, improved working conditions and other employee benefits should not be prejudiced. The plan must be sufficiently simple for employees to see the relationship between their actual working performance and the bonuses they received, otherwise it would be treated with suspicion.
