TRIBAL CLASHES IN NATAL

Rec. 8 p.m. CAPETOWN, Dec. 18. Over 300 natives fought a pitched battle with spears, sticks and stones at Salvation Army headquarters near Weenan. Natal, in a climax to mounting ill-feeling betwen the RJcunu and Mtembu tribes. At lease one native was killed and several were wounded. This tribal war started over arguments at a marriage feast. Police reinforcements have been sent to the scene. Men from the Mcunu tribe today raided a farm three miles from Weenan and looted all the stock. In revenge, the Mtembus are smashing Mcunu property. Native women with their children and belongings are seeking shelter in farm houses.
