“A Misunderstanding”

PA WELLINGTON. Dec. 19. Referring to the possibility of all race meetings throughout New Zealand being declared “ black,” the conciliation commissioner, Mr S- Ritchie, commented to-day that the point at issue was a misunderstanding over what had been settled at the conciliation hearing. Consequently, he thought it advisable to bring the council together •again, and he gave the union a tentative date, December 22, for the discussions. He had been obliged to call off this meeting because the employers said they could not meet on that date. It was close to Christmas, and there was uncertainty about accommodation and transport.
