MR A. E. S. HANAN ACCEPTS PATRON’S OFFICE Daily Times Special Service

j AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. Mr A. E. S. Hanan, Mayor of Timaru, has accepted the office of patron of the Dominion Association of the Blind. Mr Hanan has always taken an interest in the blind. Miss Helen Keller, a noted blind and deaf humanitarian, recently accepted the office of life patroness. “With two such able people showing a practical interest in the association, progress should be made,” said the secretary, Mr F. J. Spear, of Auckland, in making the announcement. “That blind people can to a very great extent overcome their disability was more than proved during the war years,” said Mr Spear. “ The future success of the association is assured as the blind take h more active part in a solution of problems peculiar to them.”
