OTAGO BRANCH At. the final meeting for the year of the Otago Branch, Council of Churches, a special minute of appreciation was recorded expressing esteem for the Rev. R. S. Watson’s contribution to the council since its inception. As the first chairman he gave wise and inspiring leadership, and had always been unsparing in'his effort to serve the ecumenical movement, and in the best interests of the community.

The Rev. D. B. Martin reported that the Youth Committee had arranged a combined Christmas Eve service to be held in the Concert Chamber. The Women’s Committee, with Mrs A. H. McLintock as chairwipman, arranged a well-attended meeting in St. Paul’s Schoolroom to hear Mrs A. K. Warren, wife of the Dean of Christchurch, report on the Amsterdam Assembly. The secretary of the N.C.C., Christchurch, wrote advising that Dr and Mrs R. Dudley, Mr T. C. Brash and the Rev. A. A. Brash would be visiting Dunedin on March 5 and 6, 1949, with sound films to report on the Amsterdam Assembly.

A meeting was also aranged for February 17 in St. Paul’s Schoolroom to meet Canon L. G. Mannering, of the Bible Reading Fellowship.
