WOMEN’S CLUB
Successful Birthday The annual birthday party of the North Otago Women’s Club, in which all circles combined to produce something worthy of centennial year, proved to be an outstanding success. The president, Mrs R. Finch, was presented with a sheaf of Dutch iris and tulips by Mrs H. J. Robertson (Gardening Circle), and with a souvenir programme by Miss M. H. Marwick (Arts and Crafts Circle). The production staged was “ A Social Evening in an Early Settler’s Home," and the period costumes of that day were shown to advantage. Those taking part were Mesdames W. Berry, J. Miller, H. P. Kent, A. W. Moss, L. Tweed. H. Grater, Ray Smith, Misses C. Lindsay, E. A. Harvey, M. Will, K. A. Pattle, B. Butterfield. B. Smith. M. Jones, M. Holdaway, W. Slater and I. Cruickshank. The stage and lounge decor were carried out by the Arts and Crafts Circle, and the floral arrangements for the stage were in the hands of Mrs H. J. Robertson. Tire lounge decorations were carried out by Mesdames T. Kennedy and S. Cameron (Gardening Circle). Miss K. A. Pattle was in charge of music, and Mesdames R. A. McDowell and W. Davies were the joint producers. Included on the stage and in the lounge were many antiques. such as vases, whatnots, samplers and drapes.
