SUCCESSFUL APPEAL
ORPHANAGES’ STREET DAY A sum of £649 9s 3d was raised by voluntary contributions to the street day appeal for the combined orphanages yesterday. This amount was described to the Daily Times last night by the chairman of the appeal committee, Mr \V. E. Earnshaw, as very satisfactory, although it was a slight decrease on the sum collected last year. Mr Earnshaw said that the day went very well indeed. He thanked the citizens of Dunedin for their generous response to the appeal and also the collectors and helpers who had worked hard for the success achieved. He added that some small amounts were still to be added to the total.
