Otago Women’s Club Has Eventful Year
” The achievements of the club in the past year have been a source of pride to me as president,” said Mrs Gerald Fitzgerald in her address from the chair to a large attendance of members of the Otago Women’s Club at the thirty-fourth annual meeting, which was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs Fitzgerald made reference to those members who had died during the year, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Mrs E. L. Eastgate commended committees, circles, and staff for their work in an eventful year, and for the manner in which the entertainment of visiting celebrities had been carried out. Miss Meda Paine thanked the president and executive through whose untiring efforts, she said, so much had been accomplished. Mrs W. K. Cameron referred to the wider activities of the club, and tendered the grateful' thanks of the National Council of Women, which had been allowed the use of the club rooms over a period of 20 years. Tire balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance, and the finances of the numerous circles, as reported by the respective secretaries, proved to be in the same healthy state.
