DAIRY FARM WORKERS
WAGE INCREASE SOUGHT NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS Industrial Correspondent. WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. Negotiations are now taking place between Federated Farmers and the New Zealand Workers’ Union for a payment total of 6s 6d a week increase in wages to dairy farm workers. This sum is involved in the new season’s pay-out determined by the Dairy Products Marketing Commission which provided for a 5s increase in labour reward. The additional Is 6d is an increase allowance for weekend work. The claims of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Workers’ Union for a new award embodying substantial wage increases are scheduled to go to the Court of Arbitration but no date has yet been set down.
