FINAL TO-DAY
AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Rec. 1 a.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 15. Doug Bachli, of Victoria, and Peter Heard, New South Wales, will meet over 36 holes to-morrow in the final of the Australian Amateur Golf Championship at the Metropolitan Links. Today, Bachli won his quarter-final against T. Tanner and followed that with a jbrilliant semi-final, win over W. A. Edgar. Heard eliminated J. Willing, the only Tasmanian left in the cha hpionship in the quarter-final and later recovered from three down to defeat E. Routley in the semi-final. The final is expected to provide a great battle with Bachli the favourite. Heard is compara'tively unknown in Victoria, but at iea§t 'is known to Bachli. The pair, played together as juniors and are close friends. Sdores: Quarter-finals: W. A. Edgar defeated W. A. Higgins three and two; D. Bachli defeated T. Tanner four and two: E. Routley defeated K. Pix two up; P. Heard defeated E. J. Willing six and four. Semi-finals: Bachli defeated Edgar four and two; Heard defeated Routley two and one.
