MEDWAY STREET

Temporary Parking Area

Advice was received at the monthly meeting of the North Otago Automobile Association that the Oamaru Borough Council had approved of Medway street as a temporary parking area. Mr A. C. Taylor was in the chair. Mr J. Gerrie reported on negotiations made for the Grown land’s property at Gemmell’s Crossing, and said it appeared certain that this would be placed under the jurisdiction of the association. Mr Gerrie further reported that he and an engineer of the Railways Department had inspected Puttiek’s crossing, and it had been decided to bank up the road and level the crossing It was decided to forward a remit to the annual meeting of the South Island Motor Union in September that the position in respect to the free breakdown service be clarified 1 and made uniform. It was also decided to press for the holding of the annual conference of automobile secretaries at Oamaru this year. A recommendation that the incoming executive consider the .issuing of metal, A.A. badges was passed. The secretary, Mr A. T. Francis, reported that 103 new members had been nominated during the past month.
