LARGE SHIPMENT FOR BRITAIN P.A. WELLINGTON, Aug. 12. A shipment of edible whale meat, the first consignment thus year, will leave Wellington for London to-mor-row in the Shaw Savill cargo vessel Taranaki. The shipment, of 2200 cases, containing lib tins, will be followed next month by smaller quantities. The total whale meat sent to Britain this year would amount to only about 50 tons, said the manager of the Picton firm which cans the meat. ■ This was far short of the amount whicn could be sold in Britain, but under present circumstances it was all that could be taken from the season’s catch of 92 whales.
