FIELDS REVIEWED

RECENT FORM DISCUSSED AYLESBURY HACK HANDICAP The Aylesbury Handicap will be run in two divisions, and in the first of these Pierre and Profane, place-getters in divisions of the Cashmere Plate, make tiie most appeal. Golden Air and Couriei finished fourth in their respective divisions of the Cashmere Plate, and may be suited by the longer distance. Resolute went a good race in the first division of the Cashmere Plate, and a reproduction of that form would make him hard to beat in the second division of this race. Confidence Trick, Eulogise and Peridot look the most likely of the others. Sumner Handicap Super, who lost a winning chance last Saturday through running to the outside of the track, looks the pick of the first division, and he will be solidly supported. Battle Strife and Mr Buzz both went good races to finish second and third respectively in the second division of the Avonhead Handicap, and should be prominent here. Hello, the winner of a division of the Avonhead Handicap, and Young John, may be the best supported of the others. The Grate finished so well in her race last Saturday to get fourth, after being slow away, that on paper her prospects look bright in the second division. The distance will not trouble her. Ballochbuie a first day’s winner. Deficiency and Bobby Dazzler may give most trouble to ThP Grate. Beaufort Steeplechase The Beaufort Steeplechase field has already been reviewed, and High Morale looks well placed in the company with 10.9. Troytown, winner of the Enfield Steeples, should again beat those he beat last Saturday, and he may follow High Morale In the order of favouritism. First Out, Whiphand and Spanish Main may give the most trouble to the favourite. Woolston Hack Handicap This is another two-division race, and in the first division Baccarat, a' decisive winner at the Christchurch Hunt Club’s meeting, should be prominent throughout Idle Jest was a recent winner, and Beaugency is due to shew improvement at any time. If there is a surprise, Scuttle looks the most' likely.to stage it. St. Bruno’s easy win on the first day will be reflected in the beeting and nothing in the second division is likely to be better backed than he is. Extra Flight looks ready to show improvement, and Money Lender has been racing consistently. Grand National Hurdles A field of 21 is due to go to the post for the big hurdle event, and even the favourite will be showing a good price. Corineus, with his background of recent winning form, including a win in the Jumpers’ Flat last Saturday, has been the early favourite, but it will not be sur-

prising if Foxchase is better supported on the machine. He has gone on the right way since racing at Trentham, and his schooling has been brilliant. Boolamskee is a fit horse, as he proved last Saturday by running third in the Jumpers’ Flat, and he will go every yard of the journey. His following would be larger if the mount was given to a professional horseman Brookby Song has yet to prove that his ability as a hurdler is equal to that as a steeplechaser. Skywriter and Desert Trek have credentials for the race, and they may follow Foxchase, Corineus, and Boolamskee in the order of favouritism Spreydon Hurdles Foreign Ways won so well last Saturday that he will be showing a very much shorter price in the Spreydon Hurdles. He has 101 b more to carry and about two furlongs further to travel. Grand Coulee was third to Foreign Ways and Moneybird in the Trial Hurdles, and will meet the winner on 91b better terms. Bridgehead appeared to be galloping easily just before he lost his rider in the Trial Hurdles, and he is one of the most likely to show improvement. Lord Broiefort, John Gay, and Gold Song may appeal to place bettors. Islington Handicap Ballinagh’s fine finishing run in the Paparua’ Handicap last Saturday should see him in demand for the Islington Handicap. Royal Tan finished solidly for third in the Winter Cup, and should be an improved horse to-morrow. Broie was a disappointment in the Winter Cup, being one of the last to finish after adding to his handicap by starting slowly. Two fresh horses in Graeme and Fine Night will add interest to the race, and Graeme will appeal to those who are looking for a likely place-getter Aganev ran a fair race in the Winter Cup, and she fnay be found running on at the end of the longer journey. Ballinagh and Royal Tan look certain to dispute favouritism. August Handicap There will be a clash of winning and placed- form in the August Handicap, and the race looks fairly open. Lord Elgin won a division of the Brabazon Handicap at the Christchurch Hunt meeting and followed this up by winning the Paparua Handicap last Saturday. He has been raised 101 b, and that may be sufficient to stop him. Da Vinci was one of the last to finish in the Winter Cup. Wild Note fourth in the Paparua Handicap, will meet Lord Elgin on 121 b better terms. Leigh Barton, with 9.6, the same weight as he carried into third place in the Paparua Handicap, will be an improved horse tomorrow, and he is assured of solid support. Julius Caesar has 8.11, or 111 b more than he won the Winter Cup with, and Distinction, who finished second to him in the Cup, will meet him on 71b better terms. Wonder Boy appears to hold the lighter-weighted lot safe, but Distinction looks the pick of the handicap.
