MATCH AT WESTPORT

p.A. WESTPORT, Aug. IX. In a disappointing display of Rugby to-day on Victoria Square between the All Black trail teams from the Seddon Shield districts and Canterbury, the B side won by 14 to 3. The All Black selectors were present but could not have been much impressed by the display. Tending to shine on the part of the forwards and a lack of spirited rucking with indecisive back movements made the game uninteresting for most of the tune. There were some occasional bright individual movements, mostly on the part of the B team for whom E. G. Walker (West Coast) was particularly dangerous at centre three-quarter. O. Smaffholme, second five-eighth,- and R. Hawes, wing, also played fairly well. Easily the best back In the A team was the Canterbury half, L. T. Savage, who received much more of the ball than A Luff, of Buffer, on the other side, The pick of the forwards were W. Mumm (Buffer), D. Max (Nelson), R. G. Stuart and A. D. McKenzie (Canterbury).
