NEW ARMY CAREER
MANY J FORCE MEMBERS PROMPT ENLISTMENT P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 11. When the Australian troopship Duntroon berthed yesterday most of the 566 returning members of J Force who disembarked were completing the last major step in their army careers. Although they were glad to be home, many of them admitted that life in the service had been interesting. This was proved later when over 60 members of the draft answered the cali for recruits for the regular force. They had volunteered to continue their services with the army while they were in Japan, and a final check on the applicants was made by officers from Army Headquarters, Wellington, before the men went ashore. A total of 270 members of J Force have offered themselves for the regular force, and about 210 have been accepted.
