PROFESSIONAL BOXING

MARR’S SPEED TRIUMPHS P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 11. A perfectly-delivered short right to the jaw gave Jackie Marr (12.2) a win on a technical knock-out over Darcv Hoffman (12.7) in the seventh round of a professional light heavyweight boxing match to-night. The punch knocked Hoffman down for a count of three, and when he rose he was still slightly dazed. The referee stopped the fight. Marr once again proved a most elusive target, and, although Hoffman gave his fastest and mOst skilful exhibition of the season, he was still not fast enough to hit his opponent hard. Marr announced that he has decided to established his home in Wellington, and will challenge for the New Zealand title as soon as he fulfils the residential qualification.
