LAKE NAMES ADOPTED
NEW "LOCH” CLASS FRIGATES P.A. WELLINGTON, Aug. 11. The six "Loch” class frigates recently purchased by the Government from the Royal Navy have been renamed, with his Majesty’s approval, after various lakes in New Zealand, said the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, to-day. On commissioning, the frigates will be named:— H.M.S. Loch Shin—H.M.N.Z.S Taupo, H.MS. Loch Katrine—H.M.N.Z.S. Rotoiti, H.M.S. Loch Morlech—H.M.N.Z.S. Tutirq, H.M.S. Loch Achanalt —H.M.NZ.S. Pukaki, H.M.S. Loch Eck—H.M.N.Z.S. Hawea, H.M.S. Loch Achray— H.M.N.Z.S Kahieri.
