UNUSUAL COURT

INDUSTRIES FAIR GOVERNMENT EXHIBIT AID FOR BRITAIN FEATURED One of the special features of the Centennial Industries Fair, which is to be held in Dunedin from September 15 to September 25, will be the Government court. This is one of the few attractions which will be provided other than by city manufacturers, and it should appeal to visitors to the fair for its bright arrangement and the thoughtful provision of lounge furniture for patrons.

The walls of the court will depict New Zealand’s obligations to Britain. One will show workmen standing among the ruins of houses and factories in Britain at the end of the war, and the next alcove Will deal with the weekly ration for people in Britain. This will be a revelation to those who are not familiar with the allocation of food there. With the aid of a clever electrical illusion, the exhibit will also depict the quantity of food that was available to British people before the war.

The next scene will be of Britain's export drive and miniatures moving along an endless chain will give a lifelike representation of the numerous products on which Britain is basing her bid for trade increases. Another wall section, again employing an qlectrical illusion, will show a sling loading goods for Britain and behind it the slings that are required to be operated to give material benefit to Britain. There is also to be a mural depicting New Zealand’s potential assistance to the Old Country, together with caricatures of almost every type of industrial worker in New Zealand. An unusual feature of this exhibit will be that the public canpress buttons ' set along the full length of the stand and produce on the wall a lighted description of the type of work done by each worker. This information will

show ud alongside the caricature. A feature of the court will be a coloured fountain with a number of transparencies showing tourist resorts in the Dominion and the tourist trade the Dominion -could capture if the scenic attractions were fully exploited. Illuminated flower boxes will also attract the eye.

The Government court will also provide a model newsreel theatre Featurettes will be shown there, and one, which will command great interest is entitled “ The World is Rich.”

The Centennial Fair will be held in Brydone Hall and a special group of technicians will come to Dunedin to set up the Government’s exhibit.
