The three hard races she bad at Trentham apparently took' their toll of Super Flight’s speed, as she was never prominent in the Winter Cup. She is engaged in the August Handicap, but she would need to improve on Saturday’s form to have a chance. Should be Improved When Resolute ran second to St. Bruno on Saturday he was having his first race since the C.J.C. Easter meeting. The race should improve him, and he may race prominently in the Aylesbury Handicap at the week-end. Fresh Horse
Among the fresh horses engaged at Ric carton on Saturday is Crease, a four-year-old gelding by Cricket Bat from Braw Lass, trained at Oamaru by J.- Hobbs In four starts last season he collected one second placing, and that was in the Trial Handicap at Oamaru in June, the winner being Greyfel, and the third horse Helio. In the first division of the Haldon Stakes at the Christchurch Hunt meeting he was made second favourite both ways, and after being one of the leaders throughout he finished behind Baccarat and Morning Watch. He is engaged in the Aylesburv Handicap on Saturday. Good Finishing Run Wonder Boy’s finishing run in the Winter Cup to get fourth was a particularly good one, and the Rhodes Scholat gelding is worth remembering when he is raced over more ground. * Ruling Favourite Ballinagh is the ruling favourite for the Islington Handicap. The Balloch gelding came home in grand style in the Paparua Handicap to get within half a head of Lord Elgin. A Good Effort
Boolamskee did not get a clear run in the Jumpers’ Flat Handicap and in the circumstances his third was a particularly good effort. He will lack nothing on the score of condition for the Grand National Hurdles.' From Wingatui The Wingatui trainer, A. E. Didham has Granddaughter and Lecturer to represent him in the Aylesbury Handicap on Saturday Granddaughter, who is a four-year-old by Siegfried from Chop Suey, had two unplaced starts last season, and Lecturer, a four-year-old by Foxbridge from Homily, was started four times without reaching a place.
