KAIKORAI BEATS PORT Superior back play gave Kaikorai a 12 points to 6 victory over Port Chalmers at the Port ground. The forwards were evenly matched in the line out and loose play, but tighter rucking bv the Kaikorai pack gave their backs a greater share of the ball. Play became a little willing towards the end, the enthusiasm of a section of the Port followers being a contributing factor. , R Thompson, the young Kaikorai wing, 1 showed speed and judgment in scoring tV jt was'not until the second spell that constructive football was played. The Kaikorai backs began to use their pace, R F. Waldron and R. Jaffray making some good openings. Both full-backs played well, J, Peck perhaps giving a mor<' polished display than his opposite number D. Burns. J. Henderson played an outstanding loose forward game for Port Chalmers and was well supported bv W. H. Rendel. R. McMeeking and A Purvis were the pick of the Kaikorai pack M. D. Chapman, who scored a try and E. Edminston, the half-back, showed initiative in the Port Chalmers badft line, and Kaikorai was well served by its half-back, G. McGill. R. Thompson (2), R. Jaffray and R. Snell scored for Kaikorai, and J. Peck kicked a penalty goal for Port Chalmers. Mr G. Little was the referee.
