JUDGES APPOINTED
COMPETITIONS CENTENNIAL FESTIVAL : pleasure was expressed by members of the Dunedin Competitions Society’s executive at a meeting on Tuesday night that the society pad obtained judges of such a high calibre as it had for the centennial festival in August ■and September. Confirmation of the appointments of the following chief judges was given:—Vocal classes, Mr V.' C. Peters (Christchurch); instruinental music, Professor Vernon Griffiths (Christchurch); elocution, Mr W. J.' Mount joy (Napier): dancing. Miss Bobbie Scott (Auckland). Preliminary work which had been carried out concerned the grand choral contest, the Dame Nellie Melba Scholarship; and of the men’s operatic contest was approved. Those sections, it was stated, were special events for the centennial year. ' a major revision of sections of the Official syllabus was reported on by Various sub-committees, and the final draft was approved for printing. . .! Mrs S. Stapp was appointed official accompanist.
