MODEL AEROPLANES
The Oamaru Power Model Aero Club recently held a contest at King George's Park, with visiting fliers from Sawyers' Bay and Dunedin. Results were:—T. Thorpe (Oamaru) 1 (24in span Spitfire, powered by 1-6 h.p. Acme motor), 54 m.p.h.; D. Kennedy (Oamaru) 2 (36ir. span Spitfire, powered by 4 h.p. Acme motor), 48 m.p.h.; M. McKenzie (Sawyers Bay) 3 (48in span bi-plane “ Gremlin,” powered by 4 h.p. Acme motor), 40 m.p.h.; C. Colson (Dunedin) 4 (24in span Spitfire, powered by 2 c.c. Diesel motor), 36 m.p.h.; E. Sherwin (Oamaru) 5 (48in span high-wing, powered by 4 h.p. Acme motor), 29 m.p.h.; M. Colson (Dunedin) 6 (48in span cabin model, powered by 1-5 h.p. “Brown Junior” motor). 29 m.p.h. On Saturday evening, discussions on control-line flying were held in the clubrooms.
