GOOD JUMPING FIELDS
If an outsize in nomination lists means anything the Dunedin Jockey Club’s three-day winter meeting should be one of the most successful in the history of the club. At the moment the indications are that some of the events .will have to be run in divisions. For the final event of the meeting, the Domain Handicap, no fewer than 64 nominations were received. Particularly pleasing is the response made by owners and trainers for the hurdle and steeplechase events. Steeplechasing has a “ pull ” all its own as an attraction for racegoers and the fortunes of the runners across country at Wingatui can be easily followed by the public. The Otago Centennial Steeplechase, with a stake of £ISOO, has drawn 21 nominations and it is certain that a good field will go to the post. The handicaps for the first day of the meeting will be published to-morrow and acceptances are due on Friday.
