CATTLE PRICES FIRM Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, May 11. Prices for fat/cattle at to-day’s Waiareka sale were firml to £1 better than those ruling last week. In the fat sheep section prices were easier than those of last week at the opening, but as the.sale progressed prices increased by Is 6d a head. There were medium yardings of fat cattle and sheep and a small yarding of store sheep. Quotations: — Fat . Cattle.—Bullocks—Prime made £lB 10s to £2O 10s, medium £l6 to £l7 10s, light £l4 10s to £ls 12s 6d; heifers—prime £l2 to £l4, medium £lO to £ll. light £5 to £7 10s; cows, £8 10s to £lO. Fat Cattle. —Wethers—Heavy made from 53s 4d to 59s 6d. prime 48s to 525, medium 40s to 46s 6d, light 37 s to 39s 6d; ewes—prime 32s 6d to 36s 6d, medium 29s to 31s 6d, light 21s to 255; maiden ewes—prime 38s 9d to 40s, medium 35s to 37s 6d, light 31s to 33s 6d. Store Cattle.—Two-year-old Shorthorn cross steers made £9 10s; yearling steers, £3 to £4 19s; calves, 42s 6d. Dairy Cattle.—A cow made £ls; heifers, £lO to £ls. Store Sheep.—Ewe lambST-Prime made 30s to 325, small 22s lOd to 255; two and four-tooth forward wethers, 375.
