SPECIAL SESSION OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY Rec il p.m. NEW YORK, Apl. 15. The Lake Success correspondent of the New York Times says the Great Powers reached agreement to-day on the officers to be elected for the special session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will begin to-morrow to consider the Palestine question Dr T F. Tsiang (China) is the Great Powers’ choice for President, and Mr Gunnar Hagglof (Sweden) for chairman of the Political Committee to which the Palestine question will be referred. Sir Carl Berendsen (New Zealand) is their choice for chairman of the Trusteeship Committee, to which the United States proposals for temporary trusteeship will be referred if discussions in the Political Committee indicate that there will be any chance that the Assembly will approve this substitute for partition. . Twenty Latin American countries will meet an hour before the Assembly convenes to determine whether to support Dr Jose Arce (Argentina) for President of the Assembly. The elections are by the majority of members voting, and if they should all decide to vote for Dr Arce, the Great Powers ticket might be upset.
