NOTES FROM RICCARTON

LUNARIA BACK TO FORM Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Apl. 16. L. J. Ellis has just returned from a short holiday at Hanmer. Apart from his own pair, Ronald Macdonald and Beaugency, he has no riding engagements at Amberley. Ronald Macdonald figures in three races, and, though his programme is not definite, it seems probable that he will start in the six-furlong Glasnevin Handicap. Kirkella has not done well lately, and it may be that his hard race in the Great Easter Handicap, in which he dead-heated with Flying Orders for third place, was enough for him in the meantime. H. Nurse is treating him to a spell, but he may be ready to show more good form at the Grand National ipeeting. C. G. Humphries has two of his team in preparation for jumping. Arctic Circle was more reliable than Minion when the two were schooled together this week. Nightblush was having her first race since October, when she appeared at Waimate. The experience will benefit her, especially when the tracks become a little softer.

G. S. Barr has Lunarla back In work, and he Is training on well for another trial among the jumpers. It is on the cards that he will be tried as a steeplechaser in the coming winter.
