Parcels for Britain

The chief work of the guild during the year had been the packing and despatch of food parcels to Britain, a total of 8691 b of food being sent, states the annual report of the Oamaru branch of the New Zealand Union of Townswomen’s Guilds. During the year members retained a fair interest in the activities of the guild, contributions were made to the Plunket Society (£7) and the Mission to Sailors (£5). Guild members had assisted with the collection and packing of flowers for the Centennial Flower Show at Dunedin, and also staffed a stand for the Red Cross street day appeal.
