NATIONAL SAVINGS
REDEMPTION OF CERTIFICATES WARNING AGAINST SALES AT DISCOUNT Special to the Daily Times. AUCKLAND, Apl. 15. Concern at the number of people who through ignorance, were redeeming National Savings Certificates to outside sources, such as money lenders, at discounts of up to 25 per cent, was expressed to-day by the president oi the New Zealand Stock Exchange Association, Mr K. N. Buttle. “National Savings Certificates are, in effect, Government securities, and they should be traded through the recognised medium of the registered stock exchanges.” Mr Buttle said. He added that both the Reserve Bank and the National Savings Committee had repeatedly advised the holders of certificates to realise them only through stock exchanges, but in spite of this people continued to lose money by redeeming them through outside sources.
