ATHLETIC MEETING In a keenly contested race the National .Mile champion, J. D. Sinclair (0.U.) won the One Mile Championship in 4min 28sec before a large crowd which attended the interuniversity athletic events on Saturday. After two laps Sinclair went

into the lead and stayed there, in spite of a strong challenge from J. C. Hawke (V.U.C.), who ran a determined race to fill second place. D. R. Batten (C.U.C.). the National 220 Yards champion, won his heat in that event in 22 l-ssec, and racing for the first time over 440 yards, won his heat comfortably from H. Rainey (0.U.), the Wellington provincial title-holder, in 51 l-ssec. J. H. Borland (C.U.C.), the Canterbury High Jump. Pole Vault, and 120 Hurdles champion, won the Pole Vault with 10ft 6in, but was defeated over the 120 Yards Hurdles by A. C. Hill (A.U.C.), who covered the distance in 16 l-ssec.
