RIFLE SHOOTING
SHIELD WON BY OTAGO Otago won the Haslam Shield in the universities' rifle shooting competition, held at Invercargill on Saturday. Results were: Otago (135, 190, 209, 166, total 700 points); Canterbury (130, 195, 214, 161, total 700 points); Victoria (117, 145, 208, 182, total 652 points); Auckland (122, 105, 165, 135, total 527 points). Otago was awarded the shield on the results of the practice four. The highest individual score was 131 by A. J. Howarth (Victoria). Tournament points were: Otago 2, Canterbury 2, Victoria 1.
