MEDICAL OFFICERS
INADEQUATE SALARIES CASE FOR INVESTIGATION INCREASES TO BE SOUGHT Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. The case of a sanatorium without a resident doctor, as was reported from Dunedin on Saturday,' is one of several where medical practitioners consider the salaries are inadequate. A case for substantial increases in the salaries of medical superintendents and medical officers of hospitals has been put before the Hospital Boards’ Association by doctors’ representatives, and will be considered by a special advisory committee on hospital staff salaries set up by the Government last year. Dr W. S. Fogg, secretary of the Medical Superintendents’ Association, said that medical men in hospitals desired to make up the ground lost over the last two years as a result of the stabilisation bar to salary increases. It would probably be some time before a decision could be expected in the case presented.
