FIGHTER SQUADRONS IN AUSTRALIA EARLY FORMATION PLANNED MELBOURNE, Mar. 12. Citizen Air Force fighter squadrons would be formed during April in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and West Australia, announced the Minister for Air, Mr A. S. Drakeford. The City of Melbourne Squadron will be formed at Laverton, the City of Sydney Squadron at Bankstown, the City of Brisbane Squadron at Archerfield, and the City of Perth Squadron a t Perth. Each squadron will be manned by 40 per cent, permanent air force personnel and 60 per cent, part-time Citizen Air Force volunteers, and will be equipped initially with Mustangs and later with Australian-made Vickers Vampire jet fighters.
