BALCLUTHA SALE
LARGE ENTRIES FORWARD
There were 2500 fat sheep forward at the Balclutha sale, consisting almost entirely of old ewes. This was one of the largest offerings seen here for some years, probably because there will be no fat sheep sales held for three weeks. The values realised were not as high as those oi the last sale, but freezing buyers competed freely at full schedule rates. In the store sheep section, 2700 were penned, this being a mixed offering of breeding ewes and lambs. Good Romney cross ewes sold well and well-bred’ owe lambs also found ready buyers. Wether lambs were not in demand, and in general showed an easing of Is to 2s a head.
