CHARGE OF MURDER
MAORI WOMAN ARRESTED p.A. AUCKLAND, Feb. 28. Arrested in Auckland, a half-caste Maori, the wife of a Chinese, was charged in the Police Court to-day with the murder of her daughter, aged four and a-half, at Ohakune, on December 30. The accused was Margaret Mary Teresa Loo. aged 26, who lives at Ohakune with her husband. According to the police, the child was admitted to Raetihi Hospital and operated on for injuries, but did not survive.
For the accused, Mr G. Skelton said she was in a certain condition, and had a young child and another boy aged seven to look after. Counsel applied for bail, which was refused, and the accused was remanded until March 4.
