HARVEST FOR BOWLERS
NORTH-EAST VALLEY DEBACLE
North-East Valley suffered a complete debacle against Albion-Y.M C.A. in the match at Logan Park, Albion-Y.M.C.A. gaining an overwhelming win by an innings and 62 runs. In reply to NorthEast Valley’s first innings score of 94, Albion-Y.M.C.A. had lost seven wickets for 163 on the first day, and, largely as the result of a bright knock by A. Collie, whose 31 not out included three 4’s, the score was taken to 217. B. Walsh, with four wickets for 69 runs, was Valley s most successful bowler. When North-East Valley went in again the batsmen formed an almost monotonous procession to and from the pavilion, then’ inability to plav the slow bowlers. R H Robinson and L. D. Smith, resulting in North-East Valley’s complete collapse for 61, which included 14 extras. A more mediocre display of batting has not been seen this season, and the only batsmen to show any confidence were S. Stronacli, who went in last and made 18. and R. Peart, who scored 14. Five of the others failed to score. Robinson and Smith, bowling unchanged, reaped a hnr V p=t. Each sent down nine overs, and Robinson took four wickets for 22 runs, and Srrrth obtained five for 25.
