CATHOLIC MISSIONARIES IN CHINA TWENTY-FIVE REPORTED DEAD Rec. 11.55 p.m. PEIPING, Feb. 29. - Father Charles MacCarthy, of San - Francisco, reported to-day that .84.' Catholic missionaries have been held' - , under arrest by Chinese Communists .• at Sienhsien, 90 miles south-west of ; Tientsin, since November. Twelve were American women. 11 Frenchmen-'' and 61 Chinese men and women. Meanwhile, the Trappist authorities said that of 75 monks seized by Communists at Yangkiaping, 85 miles west of Peiping, last July, three French, one Canadian, one Dutch, and 20 Chinese were dead. The Traperists said the Communists killed five of the Chinese and the rest died from natural causes. Many of the latter, however, suffered privations.
