SUMMONSES SERVED
CARPENTERS’ UNION OFFICIALS P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 27. Summonses have been served on four officials of the New Zealand Carpenters’ Union—two in the Hutt Valley, one in Wellington, and one in Wanganui—on charges under the Strike and Lockout Emergency Regulations. The informations were laid by the Department of Labour. More informations against persons in various parts of New Zealand are to follow. The Minister of Labour, Mr McLagan, said to-night that if an employer closed down his job where there was a “ go slow ” policy in operation and dismissed his workers this would constitute a lockout and the Labour Department would be instructed to take appropriate action for enforcemen of the law. The first prosecution against a union official is due to come before the Magistrate’s Court, Wanganui, on Monday, the two Hutt Valley cases at Lower Hutt on Wednesday, and the Wellington case at Wellington on Friday. ,
